How To Plant Ideas in Someone's Mind - An Article by Lifehacker
I particular like the post on underselling. This can apply very much on waiting on tables. If someone ask me for example how this particular dish is I never say it is great but I do say a lot of people order it and it is one of our more popular request.
This way the onus is on them to make their own mind up.So if they do order it, because of my deliberate lack of excitement, nearly all the time their expectations will always be surpassed. They will be assured though by my letting them know this entree is ordered frequently it must be good!
