Thinking Outside the Box
The easiest thing to do so the guest doesn't have to wait is grab a clean utensil from the table next to them that isn't being used. This way you appear smart and the guest has their replacement utensil right away so they can start eating.
All you have to do is instead of hurrying back to get that knife or fork is walk back casually and replace what you have taken at the unused table beside them.
Of course if the place is jam packed would be the only reason you would not be able to do this.
Funny though I see a lot of people running all over the place to get that fork or knife when they could have just grabbed one off the nearest unused table.
